SAWIP, leaders from the South African Embassy, the Administration and Congress joined guests at the world premiere showing of ESPN Films' documentary The 16th Man, telling the story of the 1995 rugby World Cup and then new South African President Nelson Mandela. The film is based on the work of John Carlin, and award-winning journalist who spoke at the premiere, and whose book on the subject became the feature film Invictus. SAWIP is a six-month internship program dedicated to developing a new generation of South African leaders.
